Rail LCL consolidation

Shipping consignments that do not fill a container. We receive cargo at the terminal, consolidate it with other shipments and deconsolidate on arrival.

LCL (Less than Container Load) is a consolidated shipment where one container carries cargo for several clients. It allows a small consignment to move by rail without paying for a full container. SilkPort Logistics receives the cargo at its own terminal in China, checks and labels the packages, builds the container, prepares the documents and arranges release to the consignee after deconsolidation at destination.

Frequently asked questions

  • From what volume does consolidation make sense?

As a guide, when the consignment is noticeably below container capacity. The exact threshold depends on cargo density and direction, so our quote compares both options and shows where LCL is cheaper and where a dedicated container already pays off.

  • How is consolidated cargo kept intact?

Every package is received against the packing list, labelled and recorded on arrival. Cargo is stowed with consignments separated and secured, and the shipment composition is reflected in the shipping documents.
